I am 16 years old, and my mom just "assumes" I have Acid Reflux, because my dad has it, and when I was a baby, something in my throat went wrong, and now I have it because of that. I have heartburn all the time, and it's painful. I haven't had it in the last week though. When I have heartburn, I do not take a Tums or anything for it. I am almost positive that I do have it, but is it serious? Should I be taking medication? Should I tell my mom that I need to go to the doctor? My mom also said I have "GERD" but never told me about medication to take. Also, I haven't had any problems RECENTLY, but I am sure I still have it from eating certain foods. In addition, when I do have heartburn, I just open my mouth and breathe in cold air to sooth it a tiny bit.

14 Vote(s)

However, every other night his heart burn is so absurd, that he cant function and nearly throws up. Is it the beer? Its hard to change this routine because of his job, but maybe if he eliminates half of the beer? Hopefully, I can get some answers on here...thanks anyone who can help me.

13 Vote(s)

Madeleine is 3 1/2 months old and has been showing all of the symptoms of acid reflux (from my research online anyway) for over 3 weeks now. Just when she seemed to get over her severe gas problems, she started waking up in her sleep 2-3 times in the night screaming, would arch her back and cry while trying to eat all day, always seems starving (especially after 8PM), spits up with every bottle, sweats profusely and snores like my husband! My poor little one is usually a very happy baby, but she is miserable most of the day now. I brought the symptoms up with our current doc and she didn't even mention acid reflux! She just said...well, babies do that. She will grow out of it. What can I do?

18 Vote(s)

I've had Acid Reflux for about 3 months, medication (omeprazole) has not helped at all, neither has changing my diet to bland foods, or using apple cider vinegar or slippery elm bark powder tea. Wanting to try out the Acid Reflux "cures" on the internet, but want to know if they are legit, or a scam, before I hand over my hard earned $50, to find out how to cure myself with their "ebook" information reports online. (My Doctor just keeps prescribing more medication which is not working.) Any ideas? Has anyone tried buying the Acid Reflux "Cures" over the net?

12 Vote(s)

I'm a 22 year old male and I have a burning feeling in the middle of my chest about once or twice a week, sometimes more, but on average that's about it. I had an endoscopy done and they took biopsies, but everything came back negative. He said he saw small traces of acid, but not enough to merit that I have full blown Acid Reflux. Has anyone ever heard of someone having heartburn without acid reflux? I've always been healthy so I'm a little paranoid over it. People who have acid reflux complain of an acid taste in their mouths and throat, never had that. Waking up feeling nauseous, never had that. Shortness of breath, never had that. Problems swallowing, never had that. I just have occasional heartburn. Anyone have any insight as to what exactly is going on? Is it actually heartburn or could it be something else? I'm not really sure what I'm trying to ask really, just confused. I know I have a discomfort in the middle of my chest, but that's the only symtom of anything I really have.

12 Vote(s)

It's usually after I've eaten some kind of spicy food that day, but it's gotten to the point that it's if I've only had a few spicy chips, or pizza. I've been eating healthier lately, but regardless, I'm still having this problem. What's wrong here?

15 Vote(s)

I have twins... they are about 11 weeks old.. Im having a real hard time with the baby boy.. The DR said it is acid reflux... which i guess would make sense because the poor thing is always suffering after feedings and he doesnt sleep but maybe 20-30 minutes at a time.. as he gets older it's starting to get worse.. Im starting to think it might be something else.. he is also having what looks like muscle spasms but only when he is screaming in pain.. has anyone seen anything like this with their own infants? He is on prilosec prescription... and he is already on very expensive alementum formula... When he starts crying there is NOTHING we can do to make him stop he just passes out eventually.. he will do this every couple of hours.I wasnt able to breast feed because of compications with labor.. and they were stuck in the NICU for a while. They were born at 33 weeks.I know a lot of u are suggesting incline sleeping.. but he refuses to sleep at an incline it seems like he is in more pain that way.. he will only sleep on his tummy..he already eats at a sitting up position and stays seated up till he cries himself to sleep.. which is like an hour or so after feeding.. we also have tried thickening his feedings with rice.

8 Vote(s)

Hi all, I'm a 19 year old female with a normal B.M.I.The past 3 days I have had constant heartburn that can be severe at times and moderate at others. Antacids help for about 10 minutes but then the burn returns. I must have drink about half a bottle of Gaviscon! I burp up a tiny amount of acid and if I work my muscles (as if I were to vomit) I can feel acid in the middle of my chest working its' way up. The pain gets worse bending over and laying down. I've also been experiencing migraines, and abdominal pain in the middle-right of my abdomen. Generally, I just feel lousy and nautious at times. I'm also very thirsty and have a slight sore throat. I had a radiofrequency ablation about 3 weeks ago and whilst I had a little chest pain afterwards, that went away after 1 day so I don't think it's related. However, since the op I have been taking 75mg of coated Aspirin a day. Could it be Aspirin Poisoning?

17 Vote(s)

hi there, i recently was diagnosed with "Gerd" i went to the docs because i had problems (i don't know how to put it) to initiate a swallow, this happened because i felt a "something stuck in the throat feeling" so he said i had an infection he gave me MEDS but they didn't work...well i went back and he sent me to a ENT he said i had acid reflux and gave me medicine (PRISOLIC), but they didn't work then he said it could be allergies but those didn't work either, so i got a CT scan of the neck and nothing showed up, so anyways now my doc has me on ZERGARID 40mg 3 times a day, but my question is why does my throat still hurt?, sometimes the pain is by the bottom (collar bone location) sometimes by my thyroid and it moves around, also when i swallow i feel like there are cartilages rubbing on each other, also when my ENT sent a report to my doc i saw something that said (forgive the spelling) laryngeal edema, so my questions are1.what cures or helps acid reflux if the MEDS don't work2.how do i fix my throat?, stop the pain and weird feeling (am also starting to get scared to swallow the food gets stuck by my uvula)3.whats a laryngeal edema, i looked it up and it said something about the larynx being filled with liquid, could that cause the cartilage feeling?SORRY FOR THE LONG POST BUT AT TIMES I FEEL LIKE AM DYING I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!o and also i constantly have to clear my throat as if i had mucus in there, and i do but i dont know if thats related to the gerd or something else

16 Vote(s)

I am asking on behalf of my dad since he is not a big computer user. My question is does anyone have severe acid reflux to the point where your throat closes and nothing will go down, not even water. This happens to my dad probably about once or twice a week. He has been to the doctor about it but all they do is say try slowing down when eating. That doesn't help. It just happens out of nowhere. I am just wondering if anyone has experienced this and what they did to help with it. Thanks!

15 Vote(s)

My 3 month old has been sick for over a week now, and was rushed to Emergency by Ambulance. He was having a hard time breathing when I was on the phone with Telehealth, and theycalled 911. By the time he got there he seemed to be ok. He was coughing up phlum and it seemed to help the breathing, they still wanted to send him to the hospital. Got there and the DR just said he has a cold. All she did was listen to his lungs. Went to the family Dr. the next Day and they told me that he had Flu Gerd. He's on Ranitidine, but he is still coughing up a lot of phlum and sometimes still has a hard time breathing. Any other suggestions?

10 Vote(s)
